The Center for Pediatric Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Research focuses on children and families, with an emphasis on disadvantaged and minority populations who experience a disproportionate burden of diabetes.

Our Goals

  1. Promote the clinical investigation of mechanisms, diagnosis, and primary prevention of type 2 diabetes among vulnerable youth.
  2. Foster collaboration and facilitate interdisciplinary research between investigators interested in childhood obesity and diabetes prevention.
  3. Promote community involvement in diabetes prevention research that focuses on obesity reduction in ethnic/racial minority and economically disadvantaged pediatric populations.
  4. Disseminate our findings and promote the translation of research program findings into appropriate clinical and community settings.
